Most evenings in that towering corporate office blur together\u2014emails, schedules, forms. I always count down the clock, racing home to my two kids before my elderly neighbor worries herself sick. Being a single mom with no real family means every minute, every dollar, every decision feels heavier.<\/p>\n

That night, I ran into the grocery store across from work to grab a few essentials. I was halfway to the checkout when something outside caught my eye. Through the window, standing in the flow of foot traffic, was a young woman\u2014barely twenty by the look of her. Very pregnant. Pale. Shaking. Holding her belly like she was trying to keep herself from collapsing.<\/p>\n

People streamed around her like she was invisible.<\/p>\n
